About the role

We are looking for a qualified and compassionate Yoga Instructor to lead community-based sessions that support physical and emotional wellbeing. You’ll deliver inclusive, beginner-friendly yoga classes in a warm, welcoming environment – often working with people who are older, isolated, or new to movement and mindfulness practices.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about using yoga as a tool for connection, confidence and community healing.

Locations: Redbridge, Newham, or Waltham Forest (in-person sessions)

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver gentle, accessible yoga sessions for diverse community groups
  • Create a safe, calm and inclusive atmosphere
  • Modify poses and sequences to suit all abilities
  • Encourage mindfulness, relaxation and body awareness
  • Set up and pack away any equipment used (e.g. mats, chairs)
  • Engage with participants in a warm, respectful manner
  • Communicate any concerns or needs to the programme coordinator

What skills do I need?

Skills, attributes, experience and qualifications

  • Confident and caring yoga teacher with a calm, encouraging style
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to adapt sessions to suit a range of physical needs
  • Respectful of different cultures, abilities and backgrounds
  • Reliable, punctual and professional
  • Minimum: Yoga teaching qualification (e.g. 200-hour training or equivalent)
  • Insurance to teach (public liability) – or willingness to obtain it (we can advise)
  • Experience teaching in community, group, or therapeutic settings is a bonus but not required
  • First Aid certificate (preferred but not essential)
  • Own transport may be helpful depending on location
  • Yoga equipment (e.g. your own mat and props); we may be able to provide extras for participants
  • Insurance: You’ll need your own teaching insurance (we can help you source low-cost cover)
  • DBS check – required for working with vulnerable adults (we can arrange this)
  • Agreement to our safeguarding and wellbeing policies
  • Commitment to providing safe, respectful and inclusive sessions
