VAEF  Befriending Service for older people aims to provide support, friendship and short respite for informal carers and those living on their own in isolation. We have weekly activity clubs in North Weald, Waltham Abbey and Loughton for older people in the community to attend. Additionally we offer occasional trips out.

As a volunteer driver you will be ensuring that all our clients are collected and transported to the club safely and taken back home again after.

You will find this a very rewarding and fulfilling role as you form a trusting and supportive relationship offering a smile, a listening ear and much needed support.  You will be required to drive the minibus and may need to help  clients on occasion helping them on and off the bus. Drivers will be required to do Vehicle checks and log details. This will be covered in induction training.

To ensure passenger safety, MIDAS training is available.

What skills do I need?

This role will involve collecting the community mini bus from its location and working from a passenger list to establish your route. You will be assisted by a chaperone who will help clients on and off the bus and remain on the bus with you.
