VAEF Community Clubs is a Befriending Service for older people which aims to provide support, friendship and short respite for informal carers and those living on their own in isolation. We have weekly activity clubs in North Weald, Waltham Abbey and Loughton for older people in the community to attend.
You will find this a very rewarding and fulfilling role as you form a trusting and supportive relationship offering a smile, a listening ear and much needed support. There are roles for club volunteers. The clubs offer entertainment to members and one of the favourite activities is dancing so If you are sociable and like to have a dance you will be very popular!
This is a great role too for young people who are looking for a career in health, social work or in the community to gain volunteering experience for applications for third level education or just gaining insight to working in a career in this field. We are very happy to provide you with a reference if you need one.
If you are friendly, patient and understanding. If you have a sense of humour. If you like older people and you are good in teams then this is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.
