About

The National Needlework Archive is the charity based at The Old Chapel Textile Centre. The National Needlework Archive maintains documentary and photographic record of textiles located in the community throughout the British Isles. This includes all work in public places; work belonging to organisations including the WI and Toc H. The NNA works closely with various groups to promote textiles, textile education, and research. The NNA has both a reference and lending library and a textile collection. Donations relating to all needlecrafts are always welcome. The Old Chapel Textile Centre hosts exhibitions, workshops and events relating to any aspect of textiles. The Country Wife textile mural is being conserved at The Old Chapel Textile Centre. This mural measuring 5m x 4.5m was made for the Festival of Britain in 1951. The 3D figures and craft items make this stunning piece a 'must see' item. There is also a shop selling new and preloved fabric, yarns, books, kits, embroidery threads, haberdashery and much more. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments in the café area.
