Beaver Volunteers
When: Term time Mondays 17:30 - 18:45
Where: 1st Haywards Heath Scout Group, Vic Forster Scout Centre, Franklands Village, Haywards Heath RH16 3RS
Training & Licenses: DBS, First Aid Training, and leadership training provided
Beaver leaders run games, crafts, and activities for children aged 6-8. Sessions are just over an hour, and we don’t mind if you can’t make it every week - we’re just looking for a team to spread the load around. A typical volunteer might plan a couple activities, supervise games, and contribute program ideas.
The Scouting movement has transitioned to being team-work based, so you’ll just become part of the team and can take on as much or as little as you wish. For example, at Scouts we each plan a couple evenings per term. We’re always flexible around each other’s work and family commitments.
Please email [email protected] if you’d like to hear more.
Every volunteer at the 1st Haywards Heath makes a big difference to the lives of our young people. One of our new Scouts wrote the following about his experience:
“I was really excited when I found out that I got a place at Scouts because I have been wanting to do it for ages. On my first night I was nervous but thrilled and it turned out to be extra exciting because one of my friends from school joined on the same night. I got put into Lion patrol and enjoyed finding out about all the different activities and camps that are accessible at Scouts.
Soon after I made the decision to go to my first ever Scout training camp, which happened only 5 weeks after I joined. I was a bit nervous again as it was the first time I had slept in a tent overnight or spent the night away from my family but I had a great time. One of my favourite things was learning to make pancakes. I have made them for my parents at home since.
I’m now looking forward to going to camp again in the summer. I have enjoyed Scouts so much that I recommended it to my best friend and now he has joined too.”
