Our charity is a thriving community of support for children, young people and families living with complex disabilities. We believe that each child and young person, regardless of their disability, should have every opportunity to explore their potential and live their best life.

The purpose of the role is to drive children and young people to places of interest, leisure and education so they are out in the community, gaining new experiences and creating independence. The children and young people are always accompanied by a support worker.

Purpose of the role:

To drive children and young people to places of interest, leisure and education so they are out in the community, gaining new experiences and creating independence.

What you will do:

• Complete vehicle checks so the minibus is safe and road worthy.

• Make sure the vehicle is clean, tidy and fully equipped for the journey

• Complete vehicle logs at the end of the trip and report any issues

• Help with the loading/unloading of children and young people from the vehicle including the clamping and securing of the wheelchairs

What skills do I need?

A full driving licence with less than 6 points
Be over 21 and have held a licence for over 2 years
Experience of driving a mini bus (desirable) but training is available
Able to communicate with a range of people
Be reliable and have a flexible approach
Can work independently

This role is flexible. Volunteers can choose to be booked for trips on an adhoc basis (visits are planned a long time in advance) or have a regular day so we know there is a volunteer driver available to plan activities.
