Spend time cruising on the local canal. Take part in public and themed trips, dressing up being optional.

In Newbury we have the Jubilee, which is the only narrowboat in the fleet. Our season normally runs from March to October and we carry out 6 public trips a week. We also do themed trips in school holidays and you can see the boat dressed up, as well as the volunteers, cruising on the canal as pirates, halloween characters and even Santa and his helpers in December. We also have a summer season, where we work with local businesses to provide evening cruises, with prosecco or gin and beer tasting.

Our crews are essential in making trips as enjoyable and safe as possible. All crew undergo training and assessment by our experienced training staff and many go on to undertake other roles, such as helming the boat, or even skippering trips.

Our engineering and maintenance team are always interested in hearing from those happy to get their hands dirty and they carry out regular work on the boat.

We have a reputation as a happy, welcoming and relaxed boat, and this is reflected by our many repeat customers.

We welcome those with no, little, or a lot of experience on the canal, or boats in general. Everyone has something to bring. Why not see what you can add?

What skills do I need?

A love of being outdoors and meeting people. Our volunteers range from builders to diplomats and none to years of experience. The common factor is boating, the canal and an enthusiasm for both.
