As a Volunteer Gardener you will support a busy Care Home.

Tasks may include tidying beds, weeding, lawn mowing and other gardening jobs as required. You may also work with residents helping them to enjoy the care home gardens eg utilising raised beds for planting.

How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?

Generally, we ask for a minimum of two hour per week for at least six months.

What kind of support will I receive as a volunteer?

You will receive ongoing support and guidance from the Care Home team who will direct you, monitor your progress, and provide feedback. You will also have access to online resources, training opportunities, and peer support from other volunteers.

Travel expenses will be paid.

About you

  • You are aged 18 or over
  • You will be able to be flexible
  • You'll have an awareness of older people in the community
  • You'll have a passion for people, and gardening
  • A commitment to health and safety within the volunteering environment
  • A commitment to MHA's values and policies.

What skills do I need?

  • You will have some gardening knowledge and skills, although this can be basic
  • You will have good communication skills
  • We would love it if you came with experience of garden maintenance, but it's not essential
  • You will be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
