These are vital ‘behind the scenes’ roles that help ensure our local Scout groups run smoothly, safely and legally. Our trustees ensure our young people have a good experience at Scouts, developing skills for life. They also connect the groups to our local community and will give you experience of being a charity trustee. We work together as a team of volunteers. We meet once a term, in the evening. Scouts offers online training for these roles.

What skills do I need?

The role is about working as a team to assess risks, look after our Scout Hall, raise and manage our funds. Most roles don’t require technical skills. It helps to have problem-solving skills. A willingness to participate in the meetings, and make decisions collectively to support the group. Scouts offers a host of online training and resources to support the role, including in data protect, safeguarding, and safety.
