We are looking to create a bank of volunteers who can support community provision in the Quetta Park, Aldershot, Pirbirght and Sandhurst areas for young people who are part of military families. The role is very flexible and involves:

  • Supporting the Community Development Worker to deliver youth work sessions
  • Building professional, supportive relationships with young people who attend
  • Setting up / tidying up the youth centre before / after sessions
  • Helping to plan and evaluate the work we do
  • Working in small groups and one to one with young people, if required
  • Completing training and supervision to allow you to do the role successfully
  • Representing AWS and the British Army to a high standard at all times

What skills do I need?

  • A positive view of teenagers, and an appreciation of the challenges they face
  • The ability to be patient and ‘child focused’
  • Reliability and punctuality is a must!
  • Sense of humour is a definite bonus…
  • Ability to be reflective and professional, and to persevere if things do not work out as intended
