Help Shape the Future of Counselling in Our Community

Empathy Bring Support (EBS) is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Volunteer Trustee – Community Engagement & Fundraising Lead to join our Board of Trustees and help ensure local people can continue to access affordable counselling when they need it most.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by helping shape the future of our charity, building meaningful relationships across our community, and inspiring local fundraising that enables EBS to continue supporting those who need us.

As our Community Engagement & Fundraising Lead Trustee, you'll be an active member of the Board of Trustees, helping guide the strategic direction of EBS while leading the development of our community engagement and fundraising activities.

You'll help raise awareness of the charity, strengthen local partnerships and encourage individuals, schools, businesses and community groups to support EBS through fundraising and community initiatives.

You don't need professional fundraising experience - we're looking for someone with enthusiasm, initiative and a passion for supporting others.

What skills do I need?

Your role may include:

  • Leading the development of EBS's community engagement and fundraising programme.
  • Organising community fundraising events such as bake sales, coffee mornings, quiz nights and sponsored activities. Coordinating EBS stalls at local fairs, fetes and community events.
  • Building relationships with schools, businesses, community groups and local organisations to encourage support for EBS. Recruiting, organising and supporting volunteers to help at fundraising events.
  • Working with fellow Trustees to develop an annual community engagement and fundraising strategy.
  • Helping promote fundraising campaigns through social media and local networks.
  • Identifying new opportunities to raise awareness, generate income and strengthen EBS's presence within the local community.
  • Contributing to Trustee meetings and helping shape the long-term sustainability and strategic direction of the charity.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting their local community.
  • Enthusiastic, creative and full of ideas. Friendly, approachable and able to inspire others.
  • A confident communicator who enjoys building relationships.
  • Comfortable coordinating activities and bringing people together.
  • Self-motivated, organised and willing to take the lead on community initiatives.
  • Committed to working collaboratively as an active member of the Board of Trustees.

What you'll gain

  • The opportunity to make a lasting difference to people who may otherwise be unable to access counselling because of financial barriers.
  • A meaningful leadership role within a respected local mental health charity.
  • Experience in charity governance, community engagement, fundraising and strategic planning.
  • The opportunity to develop new skills while working alongside a friendly, supportive and passionate Board of Trustees.
  • Flexible volunteering that fits around your existing commitments.
  • The satisfaction of seeing your ideas directly improve access to counselling for local people.

Time Commitment

This is a flexible volunteer trustee role. The time commitment will vary throughout the year depending on fundraising activities, events and trustee meetings. Some evening or weekend attendance may occasionally be helpful, particularly when supporting community events.

Support

As a Trustee, you'll receive a full induction, ongoing support and guidance to help you understand both the trustee role and your community engagement responsibilities. Previous trustee or fundraising experience is not essential—we're looking for enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to make a difference.

Interested?

  • We'd love to hear from people with fresh ideas, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in their local community.
  • Whether you have experience in fundraising, community projects, local business, events, marketing, education or simply want to use your skills to support a worthwhile cause, we'd love to hear from you.
  • Together, we can help ensure that nobody has to face life's challenges alone because counselling is out of reach financially.

Location

This opportunity can be carried out whilst working from home.
