Volunteer Trustee

PeCAN is looking for two or three new volunteer trustees to join our board. If you’re passionate about climate and nature, enjoy thinking strategically, and would like to help shape projects that benefit the Petersfield community, we’d love to hear from you.

Trustees meet in person once a quarter in Petersfield, with occasional ad‑hoc meetings in between, to set our strategy, oversee projects, and ensure our charity is on track. It’s a rewarding and enjoyable way to contribute to our community’s response to the climate and nature crises.

You don’t need to be an expert in governance, whether you’re experienced or completely new to trustee roles, your enthusiasm, commitment and willingness to learn are what matter most. We particularly welcome female and younger applicants to help broaden the perspectives on our board.

What’s involved?

• Helping to set PeCAN’s strategic direction

• Overseeing projects and ensuring they align with our mission

• Supporting good governance and decision‑making

• Attending quarterly in‑person board meetings in Petersfield

• Taking part in occasional ad‑hoc discussions or planning sessions

• Bringing your perspective, ideas and lived experience to the table

This is a leadership role, but it’s friendly, collaborative and fully supported by existing trustees and staff.

What skills do I need?

You don’t need to have all of these skills, they’re simply a guide to the kinds of strengths that can be helpful in this role.
