We are a young onset dementia group that has been set up for those newly diagnosed and with young onset dementia. This is a exciting new group that has working with Essex University and CVS Tendring as well as many Essex partners in Clacton. We are seeking a volunteer secretary to attend a new group at the CVST Dovercourt Hub on Tuesday afternoon.
Main duties: Work with group leader and treasurer in the organisation, promotion, record keeping and general smooth running of the group.
- Maintain up‑to‑date member lists (participants, carers, volunteers).
- Help prepare agendas and keep records of meetings, attendance, and activity logs.
- File important documents such as safeguarding records, policies, and consent forms.
- Arrange committee or volunteer meetings.
- Track follow-up actions and remind relevant people.
- Communicate session dates, changes, and reminders to members and carers.
- Liaise with venues, partner organisations, professionals, or guest speakers.
- Make sure risk assessments and emergency contact lists are on hand.
We have been asked to run extra hubs so this role could grow
What skills do I need?
Some experience of previous group administration or secretarial duties would be beneficial.
Being organised and methodical
Friendly, willing to help with an interest in mental health and helping others.
