Libraries run many occasional or regular events for which we need additional help. Events for adults may help to reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing. Activities for children aim to get them enthused about books. Contact your local library to find what specific activities they need help with and which you are comfortable supporting. You may have a skill or interest you could offer.
Events and activities may include
• coffee mornings and tea afternoons
• craft activities for children or adults
• games such as chess or scrabble
• other social activities
What will it involve?
Looking for someone to support regular Coffee Mornings, Children\\\'s Storytime sessions, Stay and Play sessions at Clacton Library, school holiday children’s craft events and possibly other one-off events throughout the year either or as follows:
• making/serving drinks for events and coffee morning sessions
• preparing the library for the appropriate session – e.g., arranging furniture, setting out cups, saucers and biscuits, setting out craft materials
• meeting and greeting the participants, making everyone feel welcome
• chatting to the attendees, ensuring the atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and all-inclusive
• explaining and supervising craft and other practical activities
• a good knowledge of playing games such as chess or scrabble if assisting with these activities
• promoting library services
• directing specific enquiries to library staff
• clearing the area once the session ends, returning furniture as require
Colchester Library are looking for someone to support a young adult Dungeons & Dragons session on Saturday afternoons - DBS would be required for this role and also a young adult creative writing volunteer for weekend sessions, monthly.

Brentwood library is looking for Rhymetime support on Mondays, coffee morning, crochet - knitting club volunteers on Tuesdays, handmade jewellery making volunteers on Wednesday and volunteers to assist with block building/ board games day/times to be discussed.
Colchester is looking for someone to run Dungeons and Dragons every other Saturday
