About

A charity which is run by volunteers taking no benefit from the Charity. Funds are raised by Trustees organising events, attending events such as military shows and local village fairs and putting on own events such as open days at the Memorial Woodland located in Holmbury St Mary, near Dorking and holding annual Charity dinner/cabarets in Woking where the Chairman and Secretary live. Other than that we raise monies from donations, sponsorships of events like walks, run, cycle and the like. The purpose of the Charity is to assist those ex servicemen who are need of immediate assistance, ie an ex servicemen may be homeless, destitute, unable to pay a bill that will keep him in his home, feed him family or assist with other essential expenses at the time when they are desperate and thereafter we help them to contact the larger charities such as SAFFA with regard to obtaining long term help. We also provide a unique facility of the Memorial Woodland which was purchased by the chairman with his own funds and created by many ex-servicemen. Its a place where they come to meet, sit, reflect and talk. Widows plant trees for their loved ones memory and we hold commemoration services at various times of the year or when a family wish to gather to remember their lost relative
