Newsham and New Delaval Allotment and Garden Association manages and supports a local allotment community in Blyth. We provide spaces where people can grow fruit, vegetables and flowers, spend time outdoors, learn practical skills and connect with others. Our activities include maintaining the allotment site, supporting tenants, organising community events, litter picks, seasonal activities and fundraising for local causes. We encourage responsible gardening, wildlife-friendly practices and the sharing of knowledge, produce and equipment. We are also developing the Beatrice Community Garden: an accessible shared space with raised beds, wide pathways, seating, shelter and growing areas. It will enable people who cannot manage a full allotment, including older residents and people with disabilities, to continue gardening and remain part of the allotment community. We are consulting local support organisations to ensure the space meets people’s needs.
