We are seeking a Local Authority Governor to join our friendly Governing Board.

Our Board meets in person at the school 6 times per academic year, and in addition has a finance committee Governors are invited to join on an optional basis that meets online 6 times per year.

Governors are encouraged to attend the school for monitoring visits on a termly basis.

Governors are responsible for overseeing the management side of a school: strategy, policy, budgeting and staffing. They enable their school to run as effectively as possible, working alongside senior leaders and supporting teachers to provide excellent education to children.

Being a school governor is a commitment to attending governing body meetings which consider issues such as setting the school vision, mitigating financial risk and scrutinising educational outcomes. They are also involved in the school community, acting as critical friends to the headteacher and senior leaders.

The role would involve attending Governing Board meetings in person at the school 6 times per academic year, attending sub committee meetings as required and regular monitoring visits. Meetings take place in the evenings.

What skills do I need?

We would ideally encourage a volunteer with teaching experience and / or leadership/executive experience, strategic planning or coaching, however, would like to hear from anyone with other skills or experience they feel could benefit the school.
