We require community volunteers to support children within local primary schools that are struggling with reading and lack confidence. 

You will receive training, ongoing support and reimbursement of any expenses.

This is a great experience where you may see despair in the face of a child and are able to see it replaced with hope, it is a gift.  Seeing the children's progress is rewarding and reading is a key to so many things in life. 

We have a particular need in West Berkshire as the schools and children would like our support.

We are committed to involving volunteers from a range of backgrounds to support the children we work with. We are particularly interested in hearing from those from the LGBQT+ and disability communities, who are currently under-represented in our organisation. We we are also looking to attract more males to the charity to become role models for boys.

The role will be held in West Berkshire primary schools local to the volunteer. Our main office is based in Reading.

Our next training for volunteers will be held online on Tuesday 3rd November from 10am to 1pm.

What skills do I need?

Must be over 18 and ideally be available for two sessions a week during school hours, term time only.  Have an interest in children and a passion for reading.  Due to the nature of the role and the training involved, volunteers must be able to demonstrate an ability to make a commitment to the charity and they must be able to volunteer independently.
