We are looking for Volunteers to support our friendly team in making visitors welcome and keeping them informed of our exhibits and local history
- to greet and welcome visitors
- to collect information from visitors for marketing purposes
- to answer queries from visitors or telephone queries and pass on to the relevant team
- to keep an eye on the security of the museum and its objects
- to ensure that the Museum is a safe environment and to evacuate the Museum in an emergency;
- to hand out guides, children’s quizzes, large print book where needed. To assist in the operation of equipment
- to sell items from the museum shop
- to generally assist in making visitors’ experience a good one
- to keep the museum generally tidy and presentable
What skills do I need?

Visitor Assistants work during Museum opening hours, 1pm to 4pm on Thursdays and 10am-4pm on Friday and Saturdays - 3 hour shift, to suit their own commitments.
We are pretty flexible as some of our volunteers do shifts once a week, others once a month.
