We have vacancies on Tuesdays and Saturdays for volunteer Tour Guides and Tour Guide Assistants for our small heritage museum close to the centre of Guildford. We have visitors from around the world as well as local people wanting to find out more about Guildford's history. No specific qualifications are required and full training is given. But if you have an interest in local history or social history of the late 19th and 20th centuries, and want to meet new people, then this is an ideal opportunity for you. Guides are required for either a morning or afternoon session, and we are flexible about how frequently you join the rota.
Our volunteers need to have good communication skills, have a welcoming and friendly disposition, be able to learn facts and then deliver them in a way that is interesting for our visitors, and be able to respond to follow up questions from visitors, giving them a highly positive experience of Guildford's unique heritage. You need to be able to work as part of a team of tour guides as well as being confident to work independently.
