Bagshot Infant School now has vacancies on its board for School Governors who want to get involved, learn and contribute to making a real difference as we develop and grow. Governors are essential for the effectiveness and success of the school, and it is an extremely rewarding and fulfilling role.  They act as a ‘critical friend’, working voluntarily to strategically oversee the running of the school.

The role of the Governing Body is to seek assurance from the Headteacher and Leadership Team of the school, that the children are receiving the best possible learning and the best possible care. The guiding principle, that we all follow, is that we are there as individual governors for all children in the school and our actions and decisions are based on this assumption.

What skills do I need?

We welcome applications from adults with commitment, a good standard of education, an interest in schools and relevant work experience.

Successful candidates will have energy, enthusiasm, and time. You should:

  • have an interest in education and safeguarding of children, and be willing to learn through attending relevant training
  • have good interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills
  • have a respect for confidentiality
  • be committed to equality of opportunity
  • commit to attend regular governing body meetings and school visits
