At Claygate Community Centre we are almost entirely volunteer run. with a group of trustees and about 50 volunteers running the centre six days a week. Our visitors are mostly older members, but we also have young families coming in for Tea and coffee at our friendly cafe and visiting the Waste to Plate shop on site.

We need Duty Managers to be the person in charge for a single session each day. Our Duty managers check that the building is safe for our visitors to use. Most of our Duty Managers are qualified first aiders and are able to help whenever there is a small problem that needs solving.

The Duty Manager will learn the fire safety policies and will act as a fire warden in the event of a drill

Basically the Duty Manager is the point of contact for all the other volunteers in the building and any hirers at the centre at any one time.

A Duty Manager is required to volunteer for 4 hours on a given day. Either in the Morning or afternoon on Monday - Saturday

What skills do I need?

Someone who is OK with a little responsibility, can keep a cool head and is very reliable, as the duty manager opens up and closes the building. Ensures the volunteers know what is needed today and manages contractors coming to fix things in the centre.
