We are a group of volunteer drivers and telephone operators who provide help to our elderly and infirm citizens who would otherwise find it difficult to get out and about.

Our service area covers Thames Ditton, Long Ditton and Weston Green and Hinchley Wood in the Borough of Elmbridge, Surrey.

What do we do?

Typical everyday assignments include giving people lifts to the doctors or to hospital.

How does it work?

A voluntary duty phone operator takes calls between 9.00am and 12.00pm each weekday morning.

The operator makes a few phone calls to find a driver, then rings the caller back with the name of the driver. If the first driver cannot manage the request at that time the operator tries another driver on the list.

You can do as much or as little as you are able.

You say in advance any days and times you might be able to help - but you can still change your mind when you get an actual request! We cushion you against undue involvement with those needing help, because each phone operator randomly selects a different volunteer from the driver list.

Please note : telephone contact between 9.00 am - 12.00pm

Please be aware that Volunteers need to live in the Dittons and Weston Green area.

What skills do I need?

Must have a clean driving licence and full car insurance on their own vehicle suitable for the purpose.
