This is a really rewarding role, that is essential to our mission to teach adults to read. We are looking for two volunteers .One to be Coordinator for the Brighton area, and another to be Coordinator for the Worthing area.

As a Coordinator, you will be, Acting as the first point of contact for adults who want to learn to read ('Readers')  making them feel safe and welcome  Enrolling and assessing new Readers ,Pairing each new Reader with a Reading Coach  Supporting reading pairs  by phone and visiting coaching sessions  Liaising with the team's Literacy Specialist  Assisting in interviewing new coaches  Reporting progress of reading pairs to the Management Team and Attending coach meetings (approx every 8 weeks) Attending some Management Team meetings (3+ times per year) Maintaining confidentiality of Readers. 

What skills do I need?

 A passion for supporting others to achieve their goals, reading or coaching . Good communication and people skills. A non- judgemental attitude and respect for others .A commitment to maintaining confidentiality.  Reasonable confidence in using IT (Microsoft 365) - The ability to work independently and as part of a team. A willingness to ask for support from the Management Team.  A willingness to abide by Read Easy policies and procedures - Energy and enthusiasm and an average of at least 2-3 hours a week to commit to the role

When is this role available?

You 'll need to be based in or close to Brighton (for the Brighton Coordinator) or Worthing (for the Worthing Coordinator).
You 'll be working mainly from home, but will need to meet new Readers at times and places convenient for them. You 'll also need to visit reading pairs at coaching sessions. Reading pairs meet twice a week for 30-minutes, year round in the same public venue (e.g. a library). You 'll also need to attend Coach Meetings and some Management Team meetings. Both are likely to be early evening meetings. Management Team meetings are online or in the Brighton area.
The number of reading pairs you support will depend on the time you have available for the role.
