Volunteer Meet and Greeter

The Volunteer Meet and Greeter plays an important role in creating a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment within the Community Wellbeing Hub. As the first point of contact for residents, visitors and partner organisations, you will help people feel comfortable, listened to and connected to the support, activities and services available through the Hub.

The role supports HIVE Portsmouth's community-led approach by providing accessible, neighbourhood-based support that helps residents improve their wellbeing, build connections and access the help they need.

Main Responsibilities

Welcome and Engage

·       Greet visitors in a friendly, approachable and professional manner.

·       Help people feel comfortable and confident when accessing the Hub.

·       Provide information about activities, services and events taking place.

·       Offer refreshments where available and help create a welcoming atmosphere.

Information and Signposting

·       Listen to visitors and understand their immediate needs.

·       Direct people to the appropriate member of staff, volunteer or partner organisation.

·       Help residents access information about local services, groups and community activities.

·       Support visitors with simple sign-in procedures where required.

Community Connection

·       Encourage participation in Hub activities and community events.

·       Promote opportunities for volunteering, wellbeing activities and local support groups.

·       Help reduce social isolation by engaging positively with visitors.

·       Support the Hub in building a strong sense of community and belonging.

Practical Support

·       Help prepare the Hub for activities and sessions.

·       Maintain a tidy, welcoming and safe reception area.

·       Assist with displaying information, leaflets and promotional materials.

·       Support community events and partner activities as required.

Feedback and Communication

·       Share observations and feedback with Hub staff.

·       Raise any safeguarding, wellbeing or health and safety concerns with a member of staff immediately.

·       Represent HIVE Portsmouth and the Community Wellbeing Hub positively at all times.

John Pounds Centre - flexible volunteer shifts - typically 2 to 4 hours per shift, initially on a Tuesday
