Help connect people and make a real difference from just one hour a week.
At Deafblind UK, our telephone meet-up groups provide a welcoming space for members to chat, share experiences and enjoy each other's company. For many people living with sight and hearing loss, these groups can be a valuable way to reduce isolation and build connections.
We're looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help facilitate our regular telephone groups and support members to get the most out of their time together.
What will I be doing?
As a Telephone Group Facilitator, you'll:
* Welcome members to the group.
* Encourage conversation and help keep discussions flowing.
* Support everyone to participate and feel included.
* Help create a friendly, positive and enjoyable experience for all.
When do you need volunteers?
We are currently looking for volunteers to support a group that takes place on Tuesdays from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
We're also keen to hear from people who may be interested in supporting additional groups in the future as we continue to grow and expand our range of member activities.
What skills do I need?
No previous experience is required.
We're looking for people who are:
* Friendly, approachable and welcoming.
* Confident communicators.
* Comfortable encouraging group discussions.
* Able to use a computer or laptop and learn the technology used for the sessions.
Why volunteer with us?
Many of our members live with dual sensory loss, which can sometimes be isolating and lonely. By helping people come together, you'll play an important role in creating meaningful connections and supporting wellbeing.
We provide:
* Full training.
* Ongoing support.
* A rewarding opportunity to make a difference.
We ask for a minimum commitment of three months.
