Lead a team of volunteers to run our Brownie unit - we currently meet 5.45-7.15pm every Friday during term time in Southsea (but you would have flexibility in changing meeting time, day and place if you wanted). You'll:
Plan and run fun activities for girls aged 7-10, helping them have adventures big and small while growing their skills and confidence.
Build relationships with other unit volunteers, helping them to create a safe and supportive environment for girls. Because when girls feel safe, they push themselves to do incredible things.
Keep parents, carers and other volunteers informed of what’s coming up in the unit.
Make sure unit records and accounts are kept up to date.
You have the option to take the girls on weekend residentials, annual camps and even international trips.

What you get up to can be shaped by you, the girls and other volunteers in your unit.

About the Organisation:

Brownies is full of firsts: your child might grow their first plant, cook their first cake, put up (and take down) their first tent or go on their first fun-packed weekend away with guiding friends. Brownies think big, be bold and try their best. Our programme encourages fun whilst developing new skills; Brownies do fun activities, play games and earn skills builder badges, all while being supported by our trained volunteers who give up their time for free.

What skills do I need?

Even if you’re not sure about taking on a leadership role, our leadership training will give you all the skills and guidance you need. You’ll be supported by a team of helpful volunteers in your local area. You don’t need all the qualities listed below – the most important thing is you care about giving girls opportunities and you’re willing to learn. But you'll really shine in this role if you’re:

Approachable – you'll be the friendly face of the unit, encouraging girls to be themselves in a safe and supportive space.
Reliable – our groups can’t run without leaders.
Organised – because unit meetings can get messy and hectic in the best kind of way.
The leader role is open to women only
