Volunteer Role: Tenant Support and Daily Operations Assistant


Role Overview:

As a volunteer supporting tenants and the daily operations of Tate Housing CIC, you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals who have experienced homelessness, are ex-offenders, or face other vulnerabilities. Your involvement will contribute to creating a supportive environment that empowers residents to transition towards independent living.


Key Responsibilities:


Resident Engagement:


  • Provide a welcoming and supportive presence for residents, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
  • Assist residents in adhering to house rules and policies, promoting a respectful and safe living environment.


Daily Operations Support:


  • Aid in the day-to-day management of the accommodation, including monitoring communal areas and ensuring cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Support staff in administrative tasks such as record-keeping, scheduling, and communication with external agencies.


Assistance with Support Plans:


  • Collaborate with support workers to implement individualised support plans for residents.
  • Encourage residents to engage in activities that promote personal development and well-being.


Safeguarding and Reporting:


  • Be vigilant in identifying signs of abuse, neglect, or other safeguarding concerns.
  • Report any concerns promptly to the designated safeguarding lead, following organisational procedures.


Signposting and Referrals:


  • Assist residents in accessing additional services, such as healthcare, employment support, or legal advice, by providing information and referrals.
  • Maintain knowledge of local services and resources to effectively support residents' needs.


Ideal Candidate Profile:


  • This volunteer role is particularly suitable for individuals who:
  • Have experience working with ex-offenders, individuals who have been homeless, or vulnerable adults.
  • Possess empathy, patience, and strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a non-judgmental and inclusive approach to supporting others.
  • Are reliable, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Have an understanding of safeguarding principles and confidentiality.


Support and Training:


Tate Housing CIC is committed to providing volunteers with the necessary support and training to succeed in their roles. This includes:


  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training sessions.
