We’re looking to launch a brand-new bike workshop at our Sue Ryder Warehouse HQ based in Northampton, and we’re looking for volunteers to help as we bring this exciting project to life. Whether you’re a keen cyclist, enjoy practical hands-on tasks, or simply want to learn something new while making a difference, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll play an important role in building a wide range of brand-new bikes that will go on to be sold across our Sue Ryder shops raising funds for our hospices and bereavement support services. Every bike you help build will support our mission by raising vital funds for Sue Ryder, helping us provide compassionate care and support to people when they need it most. Volunteering with us is flexible, with hours that can be arranged to suit your availability. You will join a friendly team, make new friends, and receive full training along with ongoing support. This opportunity will help you gain confidence, develop bike repair and maintenance skills. As a volunteer, you will make a meaningful difference while enjoying a 50% discount on donated items across all our shops. Travel costs can reimbursed as part of your role. Please note we are based within an office of our national warehouse here: Sue Ryder, Sheaf Close, Northampton, NN5 7UL. Free parking is available on site. Please note - we do have a minimum age requirement of 18.
The ideal volunteer will have a keen interest in bikes and their maintenance which you'll use, with support to inspect, service or repair bikes in the work shop. Please be aware that you will need to be able to physically carry out workshop tasks, including moving and lifting bicycles when required. You'll need the ability to follow health and safety guidance to ensure bikes are assembled or maintained to a high standard. We welcome all those who feel able to do the role to get in touch.
