Love being outdoors and making a difference?

Help us keep our Hospice grounds clean, safe and welcoming for patients, families, visitors, staff and volunteers.

  • Help keep outdoor areas clean, tidy, and free from litter
  • Sweep leaves and small debris from paths when needed
  • Help with light cleaning or tidying of outdoor furniture, signs, and fixtures where its safe to do so
  • Notice and report anything outside that may need attention
  • Report hazards such as uneven paths, damage, or broken items to the Volunteer Link or team member
  • Use agreed tools safely and return them after use
  • Tell the team if tools or outdoor items are damaged or need replacing
  • Help with simple seasonal tasks, only when agreed and safe to do so
  • Help with light weeding of car park and paved areas as needed

What skills do I need?

  • No formal experience is needed; a willingness to help keep outdoor spaces clean and welcoming is most important
  • Able to do light outdoor tasks such as litter picking, sweeping, tidying, and light weeding
  • Willing to follow instructions and use agreed tools safely
  • Able to notice and report problems such as damage, trip hazards, full bins, or areas needing attention
  • Understands the need to work safely in shared outdoor areas
  • Able to work safely on your own or with others
  •  Friendly, respectful, and aware that the hospice should feel calm and welcoming
