Who Are We?

We are a registered charity and our main focus is on removing barriers and transforming lives for children, young people and their families.

We offer two main services:

  • An inclusive stay and play centre based in Horsham, West Sussex for all families with children to explore, play, and have fun (stay and play).
  • Activities for children and young people with disabilities aged 0 - 25 years. Sessions run in the evenings, weekends, and every school holiday. We operate out of many locations including Horsham, Crawley, Worthing and Sutton (Short Breaks).

The Role:

The purpose of the Short Break Volunteer role is to help support young people with a disability to reach their goals and potential through play and activities.

With your paired child you will help with activities, such as going for meals out, visiting theme parks, farms, zoos, cooking, arts and craft. At our Short Breaks sessions, we have children age to 6-12 and 12-18, we also run sessions for 18-30. It is a hugely rewarding and fun way to volunteer and there are lots of opportunities to learn and develop new skills along the way.

This role is important to Springboard as it enables us to run the best Short Breaks sessions that we possibly can.

We run session at lots of different times: weekday evenings, Saturdays, daytime in half terms and summer holidays. Time varies depending on days and sessions.

What skills do I need?

You just need to be a fun, patient, caring, understanding and committed person. There are no specific skills required for this role. We can teach you everything else that you need to know!
