 Volunteer Kitchen Assistants are essential to creating a warm, welcoming environment where older people and service users can enjoy nutritious meals in comfort. Many of our guests rely on these meals as a vital part of their day, and your support helps ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.

Our Volunteer Kitchen Assistants assist the preparation, serving, and clean-up of meals in a friendly, community setting. Helping create a welcoming environment by assisting in the kitchen, ensuring food is served safely, hygienically,

Key Responsibilities:
•    Assist with basic food preparation (e.g. peeling, chopping, plating)
•    Serve meals and refreshments to service users
•     Help set up and clear dining areas before and after meals
•    Wash up dishes and kitchen equipment
•     Keep kitchen and food areas clean, tidy, and hygienic
•    Follow food safety and hygiene guidelines at all times
•    Work as part of a friendly, supportive team
•    Provide a warm and welcoming experience for service users during mealtimes
 



What skills do I need?

•    Interest in food preparation and kitchen work
•    Basic knowledge of hygiene and food safety (or willingness to learn)
•    Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
•    Good communication and friendly manner
•    Reliable and punctual
•    Comfortable standing for periods and performing physical tasks
•    Experience in catering, hospitality, or volunteering in similar roles (helpful but not essential)
•    Enjoy working in a busy, social environment
