BHRUT are committed to providing exceptional maternity care to all families and Maternity Bilingual Support Volunteers at Queen’s Hospital provide non-clinical support to pregnant service users whose first language is not English. Their role is to help reduce language and communication barriers, improve engagement with maternity services, and enhance the overall care experience.

Volunteers offer culturally sensitive support by helping service users understand appointment processes, navigate services, and feel more confident during their maternity journey. They do not replace professional interpreters; instead, they work alongside clinical teams and ensure that formal interpreting services are used where clinical information, consent, or complex discussions are involved.

This opportunity is for female volunteers who are willing to provide bi-lingual support to a service user.

This is a flexible opportunity and it can be performed remotely or in person.

Even if you can only spare 1 hour per week, your help would be invaluable.

What skills do I need?

You be a compassionate, empathetic and caring person.
