Volunteer Gas Engineer Needed for Scout Group
Our local Scout Group is looking for a qualified gas engineer to help check and service our propane gas cooking equipment.
We need someone to inspect our gas bottles, pipes, and cookers to ensure everything is safe and ready for our upcoming camps and activities.

What skills do I need?
Key skills and knowledge required for this role include:
- Gas Expertise Understanding the properties of propane and how it differs from natural gas, including pressure requirements and ventilation needs.
- Appliance Servicing Experience in inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining gas cookers, burners, and ovens.
- Pipework and Hose Inspection The ability to check flexible hoses for degradation, ensure connections are secure, and verify that regulators are functioning correctly.
- Safety Testing Proficiency in conducting tightness tests to check for leaks and ensuring that all safety devices are operational.
- Regulatory Knowledge Familiarity with the specific safety standards required for non-permanent installations, such as those used in scout camps.
