The Treasurer will ensure:

  • The association is able to meet all its financial obligations;
  • That the association is spending money according to grant stipulations;  and
  • Alert the Committee if he/she thinks they are heading for financial trouble.

 

The specific responsibilities are to:

·        Keep the Bishops Green Community Association (BGCA) accounts.

  • Oversee invoices for tenants - these are sent by Centre Coordinator
  • Oversee invoices for casual bookings – these are sent by Centre Coordinator
  • Oversee receipts for paid invoices – these are sent by Centre Coordinator
  • Oversee salary payments  - payroll is outsourced to Basingstoke Voluntary Action
  • Pay staff and volunteer expenses
  • Manage utilities – check accuracy of bills and arrange payment – may involve Centre Coordinator
  • Work with Centre Coordinator to obtain quotes for work and services 
  • Present a financial update at each committee meeting – usually monthly.
  • Prepare annual accounts for external check.
  • Present accounts at the BGCA AGM and deliver a report on the finances for the year.
  • Submit BGCA’s financial information to the Charity Commission.
  • Work with Centre Coordinator to make expenditure/budget forecasts for the Business Plan.
  • Manage funding and running costs for youth club and Centre Coordinator role and other grant projects
  • Oversee sourcing of project grants – may involve Centre coordinator and youth workers



What skills do I need?

The volunteer Treasurer will need to have the following skills:

  • ability to keep accounts 
  • computer skills, including spreadsheets (Excel) and databases
  • able to work from home
  • able to work well as part of a team

Location

This opportunity can be carried out whilst working from home.
