Treasurer

You will be a member of the Horndean Voluntary Care Group Committee and will work as part of the team to run the Group.  This is a volunteer from home position with a small amount of flexible hours to suit the individual each month. 

HVCG, a small not for profit group, has been in operation in the Horndean Parish area since 1979 offering support to the residents of South Horndean, Blendworth, Catherington and Lovedean.  The Group endeavours to assist with transport door-to-door to hospitals, GP surgeries, dentists, hairdressers, lunch clubs, opticians, shopping trips etc.

As treasurer, you will have specific responsibilities that are required to assure the financial health of our organisation. Though our organisation is small, and the volume of transactions is low, in principle, the role of treasurer would cover:

Owner of all tasks pertaining to the management of the bank account.

Includes managing changes to signatories & resolution of any banking issues.

Provide all records required by the Independent Examiner annually

Financial Year runs 1st February to 31st January

Receive, review, and reimburse all expenses

Receive, record & bank incoming Client Donations via the drivers.

Receive, record & bank any grants/donations and note any restrictions of use.

Provide a periodic “Treasurers Report” to the committee and present the current financial position highlighting any new news. There are 3 meetings per year plus the AGM

Call out any Risks or Opportunities for committee consideration.

What skills do I need?

Comfortable with basic use of MS Excel, comfortable analysing data anomalies.

Attention to detail when it comes to completeness and accuracy of data. 

Able to work without direct supervision

Approachable with good communication skills

Willing to use own transport to drop off expenses if paid in cash to drivers
