To represent DPV on a number of boards, committees, forums, groups and act as the ‘eyes, ears and voice’ of DPV. To help Disabled People feel represented in health and social care.

DPV wants Disabled People to be able to influence the design and delivery of local services. We believe those with lived experience of a long-term condition often have insights into the practical day-to-day effects of the condition on daily life, which health and social care professionals don’t necessarily understand. We also want to fill the gaps in services as identified by Disabled People rather than by statutory bodies.

  1. To prepare for, by reading all papers, and attend meetings, forums, focus groups, consultations, and engagement events on behalf of DPV.
  2. To promote the social model of disability, the work of DPV and user-led organisations. To promote the value of lived experience and co-production.
  3. Be committed to building a better life for Disabled People as members of a more inclusive society by influencing policy decisions, the design, and delivery of services.
  4. To provide feedback on any issues especially health and social care, that would impact on the lives of Disabled People.
  5. To report back on any opportunities, which might be of interest to DPV.
  6. To network and build close relationships with any health and social care providers and the community, voluntary and social enterprise sector.
  7. To contribute to improving local services.
  8. To observe our Volunteers’ Code of Conduct.
