Step inside the pages of history books, open the doors of real homes and immerse yourself in the everyday life of a small village in 1642…
Are you interested in the history of working people? Do you like hands on crafts and activities? We are looking for more villagers to populate our beautiful living history museum, Little Woodham, in Rowner, Gosport. After an induction, and as many ‘out of kit’ days you would like while you learn, this role will see you donning 17th-century clothing and demonstrating life in a small rural village in 1642 to our visitors.
You do not need any prior experience in researching history, just a passion to learn. Members are encouraged to research their chosen roles and the social history of the time, and you will be supported as you settle in. Costumes are available to be loaned to get you started.
In return, we can offer a great social environment to meet new people, with members' events on offer throughout the year. We also provide delicious 17th-century food and drink to fuel you on our open days!
To help fund the welcome pack and 17th-century clothing we provide, we charge a £10 yearly subscription fee (concessions available).
