Our Hospice Home Support volunteers can ease the stress of patients by helping with practical side of life. From taking patients shopping to helping around the home, or just sitting and having a chat, our volunteers can make everyday life more manageable for everyone. Other areas for support include helping to get to GP/hospital appointments, accompanying to shops/garden centres, help around the home, giving a carer a short break.
Whilst our hospice has an 10 bed In-Patient Unit and a day hospice, we are increasingly supporting patients and their carers in their own homes, to this end we are looking to increase our team of volunteers.
We offer full training and can also offer 'fast track training' for volunteers who have a nursing, medical or social care background. Volunteers must be 18+ and a DBS check will be required due to the nature of the role. Ideally volunteers will have access to a car as our patients can be spread across the North East Hampshire & West Surrey. Travel expenses are paid.
Training is based at our Hospice in Farnham, Surrey and runs over a session of two days. If volunteers are from a medical / social care background you may be able to take advantage of a condensed single training day.
