Volunteer Fundraising Lead

Location: Winchester
Time commitment: Flexible – to be agreed with the volunteer
Role type: Volunteer

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Fundraising Lead to help Unit 12 CIC develop its fundraising and build the resources we need to continue and expand our work in the local community.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing people together, spotting opportunities and turning good ideas into action.

The role will involve both fundraising strategy and practical fundraising. We are looking for someone who can help us identify grant opportunities and potential supporters, while also helping to organise fun and accessible community fundraising activities.

What you could be involved in

  • Identifying suitable grants and funding opportunities
  • Helping to develop and maintain a fundraising plan
  • Researching local businesses and organisations that may be able to support Unit 12
  • Developing relationships with potential sponsors, donors and community partners
  • Helping to prepare funding applications and supporting information
  • Organising and coordinating fundraising events such as:
    • Jumble sales
    • Quiz nights
    • Community events
    • Raffles and sponsored activities
    • Seasonal fundraising events
    • Other creative fundraising ideas
  • Coming up with new and imaginative ways to raise money
  • Helping recruit and coordinate volunteers to support fundraising events
  • Promoting fundraising activities through social media and local networks
  • Keeping track of fundraising activities and income
  • Working with the directors and wider team to identify what funding Unit 12 needs

What you’ll get from volunteering with Unit 12

This is an opportunity to make a real and visible difference in your local community while using or developing your skills.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Take ownership of an important area of Unit 12’s development
  • Meet people and build relationships within the local community
  • Develop fundraising, event-planning and networking skills
  • See the direct impact of the money you help raise
  • Bring your own ideas and creativity to the organisation
  • Work with a friendly team and help shape the future of Unit 12

We’re particularly keen to hear from someone who enjoys making things happen and would love the opportunity to build something exciting with us.

What skills do I need?

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to be a professional fundraiser. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Enthusiastic and community-minded
  • Organised and able to take an idea and turn it into action
  • Comfortable talking to people and building relationships
  • Creative and willing to suggest new ideas
  • Confident communicating with businesses, funders and members of the community
  • Reliable and able to work independently
  • Happy to work alongside other volunteers and the Unit 12 team

Fundraising experience would be fantastic, but enthusiasm, initiative and a willingness to get involved are just as important.

Location

This opportunity has no specific location e.g. can be carried out anywhere.
