Foundation Governors represent the Christian faith and should be practicing Christians and regularly attending one of the mainstream Christian churches.

Foundation Governors should:

  • Have an interest in and a concern for education and for the whole school community.
  • Be supportive of the school and its Headteacher and staff.
  • Visit the school and get to know it.
  • Attend meetings of the governing body and its committees.
  • have strategic oversight of the school, to monitor its pupils' achievements and attainment, to oversee the teaching and learning, to review its staffing patterns, to oversee its finances.
  • Maintain and encourage the Christian ethos of the school.
  • Ensure the Christian ethos of the school is encouraged throughout its community and is reflected in its policies and protocols, the curriculum and activities.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for someone who isĀ 

  • A good communicator
  • A team builder and team player
  • Able to ask challenging questions of the school leadership.
  • Able to for a strong and professional relationship with the Headteacher

We would very much like to hear from those with experience of school governance, ideally as a chair or vice-chair, but the role could also suit someone with professional experiences of the education sector, or who has previously taken on a similar role in a voluntary or commercial organisation. Expertise in finance and health and safety would be particularly welcome, but is not essential. Most importantly we are looking for someone with a passion for education and a desire to help the school and its children achieve success.
