STRM – SEND the Right Message is a parent-led registered charity supporting families across Southend, Castle Point, Rochford and wider Essex where a child or young person (aged 0–25) has, or may have, special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

We provide practical guidance, early intervention, peer support and advocacy to families navigating the SEND system.

We are seeking an individual to join our Board of Trustees and ensure the charity's message is clear, consistent, inclusive and aligned with our mission to empower neurodiverse children, young people and families. They will strengthen brand visibility, support fundraising and enhance stakeholder engagement.

Main responsibilities are:

Lead the development and oversight of STRM's PR and marketing communications strategy.

Protect and enhance STRM's reputation through proactive and reactive communications.

Ensure digital content is accessible, neurodiversity-friendly and compliant with UK GDPR.

Investigate and, if necessary, justify future paid campaigns which might be considered in the future for awareness/lobbing etc.

Oversee production of printed materials: brochures, posters etc.

Act as an ambassador for STRM, representing the charity at events, meetings and community opportunities.

Time commitment is approximately 6–8 hours per month, including attendance at Board meetings and reviewing papers in advance.

 

 

 

What skills do I need?

• Professional experience in PR, marketing, communications or digital media.

• Strong understanding of digital marketing tools (social media, analytics, content platforms).
