We are looking for volunteers to help us manage and maintain our second-hand bookshops. Second-hand bookshop volunteers help the charity to raise valuable income by ensuring a great range of second-hand books are on offer, this income is then reinvested in supporting our work at local sites.
What will I be doing?
Second-hand bookshop volunteers ensure a well-stocked, maintained shop by:
- Providing excellent service to our visitors, ensuring they have a warm welcome and enjoyable visit
- Sorting and pricing donated books into relevant categories to be stocked in the second-hand bookshop
- Supporting the development of the second-hand bookshop by working with the rest of the team to develop systems and processes for maintaining and managing the bookshop
- Responding to visitor enquiries and feedback
- Looking at ways of bringing in other income from donated books, such as selling them online through Music Magpie or similar
What skills do I need?
- Good communication skills and approachable nature.
- A love of books.
- Interest in supporting the work of English Heritage.
- A willingness to work as part of a small team.
