Volunteer Coffee Group Facilitator

Bring People Together One Cuppa at a Time

Great conversations often start with a cup of coffee.

We're looking for friendly, welcoming and reliable volunteers to become Coffee Group Facilitators, helping us create relaxed and supportive spaces for people in the local community who may be experiencing mental health challenges, loneliness or isolation.

You don't need to be a mental health professional or an expert at running groups. What matters most is your ability to help people feel welcome, included and comfortable being themselves.

What will I be doing?

As a coffee Group Facilitator, you'll host a regular support coffee group at a venue in your local area, creating a friendly and inclusive environment where people can meet, chat and connect with others.

You'll welcome people as they arrive, help conversations get started and encourage everyone to be part of the group. You'll keep an eye on the overall atmosphere, gently include anyone who may be feeling shy or unsure, and help make the group a positive and supportive place to spend time.

Never facilitated a group before? That's absolutely fine. Full training, guidance and ongoing support will be provided.

Why volunteer?

You'll have the opportunity to meet people from your community, build valuable communication and facilitation skills, gain experience supporting a mental health charity and help create something that people can genuinely look forward to.

Most importantly, you'll be helping to create a space where someone can walk through the door and know there's a seat at the table for them.

Fancy helping us put the kettle on and bring people together?

Apply today and help create a welcoming community where conversation, connection and support can grow.

*Please note, we are in the process of confirming locations of the coffee groups.

What skills do I need?

  • Friendly and welcoming approach – helping new and existing members feel comfortable
  • Good communication skills – starting conversations and helping discussions flow naturally
  • Active listening skills – giving people the space to talk and feel heard
  • Empathy and compassion – responding to others with sensitivity, warmth and understanding
  • Group facilitation skills – helping everyone have the opportunity to participate without dominating the conversation
  • Confidence and initiative – being comfortable taking the lead and helping the group run smoothly
  • Patience and understanding – recognising that people may have different needs, personalities and communication styles
  • Non-judgemental attitude – creating an accepting and inclusive environment for everyone
  • Awareness of boundaries - understanding the difference between friendly peer support and professional mental health support
  • Reliability and commitment – being available consistently so group members now there will be a familiar face waiting for them
