SAVS is a registered charity and relies on its team of volunteer receptionists to be its first point of contact for anyone calling into the office, either on the phone or in person. Full training is given but good computer skills are important. This role would suit someone newly retired, unemployed or a Uni student prepared to volunteer on Monday afternoons.

As this is a front facing role, it would suit someone who enjoys talking to people and can be empathic.

We really value our volunteers, and offer reimbursement for travel expenses. Many of our volunteers find that their experience with SAVS leads to paid employment, thanks to a new-found confidence, learning new skills, enhancing their CV's and acquiring a good reference.

What skills do I need?

Computer skills - email, word, internet and data entry (database)

Attention to detail (spelling particularly)

Excellent communication skills - on the phone and in person

Well presented

Calm under pressure
