We are seeking volunteers to join the governing body of our forward thinking, optimistic and Outstanding school in Teddington. Joining a school governing body is a great opportunity to develop your skills and help shape the future of children in your local community. Training for the role is provided. We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with experience of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and of the education framework. 

We welcome applications from prospective governors from a range of backgrounds, cultures, ages and perspectives as we seek to increase the diversity of our board. 

What skills do I need?

Training for the role is provided. The role would involve carefully reviewing papers and considering questions you might raise with the school team in a Committee or full governing body meeting. Interpersonal skills are also important; you would visit classes at Collis and meet teachers and children as part of your role. You would also need to work alongside fellow members of the governing body as part of a team.

Skills and experience relating to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and of the education framework would be particularly helpful. Prior knowledge of Safeguarding would also be useful but not essential as training is provided.
