Can you help look after the London Museum of Water and Steam’s 17 gardens?

Gardening volunteers help to ensure that the museum and its grounds are welcoming, well presented and safe for all. Are you interested in gardening or have professional trade skills that you would like to share? If yes, then this role might be for you.

Tasks may include

• Basic gardening e.g., grass cutting, pruning, weeding.

• Seasonal tasks e.g., gutter clearing, leaf collecting, drain clearing.

• High level cleaning.

• Welcoming visitors to the site and offering assistance as required.

Time Commitment This role is currently available Thursdays to Sundays, 10am-4pm. We welcome volunteers to give as much time as they have available and they can book a half day or full day shift, depending on the time that they have available.

This role will suit someone who:

• Is interested in gardening or has a professional trade skill that they wish to share (no previous training is required)

• Is interested in the care and maintenance of an historic building and waterworks site.

• Has a friendly and open attitude, willing to get involved and learn a range of new skills.

• A willingness to get stuck in and to make a difference, helping the museum to achieve the standards we aspire to.

• A willingness to carry out tasks independently and as part of a team.

Other information Please be aware that this role involves using tools, possibly ladders and can be physically demanding. Full induction and other training will be provided as required for the role. London Museum of Water and Steam The London Museum of Water and Steam tells the story of London’s water supply, the site, its people and the amazing pumping engines that helped to make London the city it is today.
