Ealing and Hounslow Community and Voluntary Service (EHCVS) is a registered local charity supporting voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups in Ealing and Hounslow for over 40 years. We offer a wide range of practical support services to VCS groups, both large and small. Project title: Acton Community Connect Acton Community Connect is an initiative run by EHCVS and funded by Ealing Council that aims to contribute to the diverse Acton community. Through our research and connections with the Acton community we have identified three needs that the Acton Community Connect initiative will address:

  • Reduce social isolation
  • Improve health
  • Wellbeing Strengthen the community

Majority of the Volunteering and Volunteering inductions takes place during the work week* 

The role

The Acton Youth Connect Volunteer will support fun, youth club style sessions at Acton Community Connect, helping to create a safe and welcoming space for young people. The role involves engaging with teenagers, encouraging participation in activities, and supporting the delivery of sessions in Acton. You will also help build positive relationships with young people and contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment where they feel heard and valued.

The role will take place in Acton Library

What skills do I need?

  • Experience working with young people e.g. Youth worker/support
  • Good communication skills, especially with young people
  • Ability to build trust and positive relationships with teenagers
  • Patience and understanding
  • Active listening skills
  • Empathy and a non judgemental attitude
  • Ability to manage group dynamics and encourage inclusion
  • Confidence in engaging young people in activities
  • Basic problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Reliability and commitment
  • Awareness of safeguarding and boundaries
  • Teamwork and ability to work with other staff or volunteers
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm
