Friends of Hove Lagoon are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make LagoonFest 2026 another fantastic community day! We're especially looking for:

Face Painters – If you have face painting experience and would love to put smiles on children's faces while supporting a great local cause, we'd love to hear from you!

General Volunteers – We also need friendly people to help with:
•    Setting up and packing away
•    Welcoming visitors
•    Running activity stalls
•    Selling raffle tickets
•    Helping keep the event running smoothly throughout the day

Whether you can spare a couple of hours or the whole day, your support will make a real difference. LagoonFest is a fun-filled family festival with live entertainment, music, food, stalls, children's activities, a dog show and much more, all helping to support improvements around Hove Lagoon.

No matter your age or experience, if you're friendly, reliable and enjoy being part of your local community, we'd love you to join our team!

Benefits

  • Enjoyment/fun
  • Working with other nice people
  • Contributing to Friends of Hove Lagoon's income to improve the facility

Practical Considerations

The event is on Saturday 5th September from 11am-4pm , with volunteers helping out the day and evening of 4th and arriving at 9am and helping pack up until about 6pm on the 5th. Some volunteers do more and some fewer hours. All are welcome!

The 700 bus stops at Hove Lagoon and there is an accessible hilly path by Off the Beach Cafe. There are parking spaces nearby and we have access to a car park in nearby Shoreham Port for volunteers.

Support Disabled

The Lagoon is accessible for wheelchairs, we have sitting down volunteers (welcoming visitors at the entrances, filling in raffle ticket stubs, face painting). We are happy to discuss other needs of would be volunteers and to support them if we are able.

What skills do I need?

  • Apart from experience with any of the above, but particularly with Face painting experience, selling raffle tickets and writing the stubs. Using Square on your phone  (none of these are essential)
  • Love of children and dogs (or the other way round!!)
  • Energy and enthusiasm
  • Team working

We are running two volunteer induction sessions before the event.
