We are looking for Front of House Volunteers to come and join our Café team at Sussex Emmaus, between Tuesdays and Saturdays ( shifts are anytime between 10am – 4pm) in Portslade Old Village.

The role is very interactive and social, working alongside staff, other volunteers, companions and customers.

The role involves learning how to use the till and taking orders from customers, general café duties including clearing tables, helping answer any queries and maintaining good service.

Practical Considerations

• Volunteer will be on their feet for most of a shift
• There is free street parking
• Bus no 1 and 1X stop close by to the Community
• The closest train station is Portslade.

What skills do I need?

• This is a very customer focused role, no prior experience required, all training will be provided

• Comfortable working in a busy and sometimes very fast paced environment

• The Volunteer needs a reasonable level of physical ability to carry food, drinks and clear tables

• Basic knowledge of food hygiene would be a plus

• An interest in meeting new people from all walks of life

• Desire to learn new skills

• Confident in learning how to use a till and card machine
